Home
Where I go, I carry you with me You nestle into my bloodstream Building a home out of my veins And sleeping in my arteries. I did not think home was abstract- It was the house my parents raised me in, The town my friends explored on hot summer nights, The school I had gone to since I was five. I thought my people were geographic, Our mannerisms unknowable by others. But in leaving home I found my heart, Unchanged, unruly, but true. Faces may be different, Street names may change, But I am intertwined with the same souls, Those who find me unraveled And spin me back into place.
