Nature Walk

The Final Breath

My heart is buttercup yellow Soft as an afternoon cloud Light as the first ripple of a smooth stone Cast into a clear pond by a giddy younger sister. It grows from a tree that always blooms A tree with leaves of liquid gold falling Droplets spooling, the last of the autumnal sun. The wind roars a gentle song, Yet within it lay a ferocity untamable Life, defiant in its chords of joy and freedom. How often can I hear its song? What a pleasure it is, to see. When was the last time I could think? My eyes are clear. My mind is quiet. My heart is buttercup yellow.
